Hi, I’m Danni — a relaxed, storytelling wedding photographer in Sussex, near Lewes, north of Brighton, capturing natural, candid moments for couples who want to enjoy their wedding day rather than feel like they’re stuck in a photoshoot.

And here’s a little confession straight away…

I’m actually quite camera-shy.

Which might sound slightly strange coming from someone who spends most weekends pointing a camera at people. But being a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera myself has honestly shaped how I work as a photographer.

Because I know exactly how it feels when someone points a lens at you and suddenly you have no idea what to do with your hands.

My job as a wedding photographer in Sussex isn’t to turn you into models. It’s simply to help you relax, be yourselves and capture the moments that naturally happen throughout the day.

And yes… Danni Beach really is my name. I married Mr Beach. The excellent surname was definitely a bonus.

My Journey to Becoming a Wedding Photographer in Sussex

My love of photography started when I was about ten years old.

My dad gave me my first camera, and from that moment, I was hooked. Every month, he’d give me a single roll of film, which felt incredibly precious. I’d carefully choose what to photograph and then send it off to be developed.

The excitement of those prints landing on the doormat was honestly magical.

That love of photography led me through quite the education journey:

• A-Level Photography
• Photography Foundation Course
• Degree in Fine Art Photography
• Postgraduate qualification in Photojournalism

Throughout all of it, one thing became clear — I was fascinated by real stories and real moments, not staged or overly posed photographs.

After graduating, I spent 12 years working as an in-house photographer at the magazine publishing house IPC Media, shooting for titles including Marie Claire and Country Life. I travelled all over the world and had some amazing experiences.

But something still felt missing.

The Moment Everything Clicked

That moment came when I was planning my own wedding.

Suddenly I realised weddings were full of everything I loved about photography — people, emotion, laughter, nerves, family, friendship and those little moments that happen naturally throughout the day.

Real stories unfolding in real time.

That’s when I realised becoming a wedding photographer in Sussex was exactly what I’d been searching for.

More than 15 years later, I still absolutely love capturing those moments — the happy tears, the hugs from grandparents, the laughter during speeches and the slightly wild dancefloor later on.

Why Being Camera Shy Shapes How I Work

Because I’m naturally camera-shy myself, I completely understand how daunting it can feel to have a camera around all day.

That’s why my approach is always relaxed, gentle and never intrusive.

I won’t constantly pose you or interrupt moments that are happening naturally. Instead, I quietly capture the story of the day as it unfolds — the laughter, the hugs, the emotional glances and the little interactions you might not even notice at the time.

Most couples tell me the same thing after their wedding:

“We forgot the camera was even there.”

And honestly, that’s the biggest compliment I could receive.

Of course, I’m also very happy to photograph a handful of organised group shots (usually the ones parents are keen to have). I keep these quick and relaxed so you can get back to enjoying the day with your guests.

My goal is simple: to create photographs that feel like your wedding day — natural, joyful and completely you, and of course, this approach allows you to just relax and totally enjoy your wedding day!

More Than Just Your Wedding Photographer

Over the years, couples have described me as:

• “The calm one when things get a little hectic”

And I secretly love that.

My camera bag has even been nicknamed Mary Poppins by one bride because it seems to contain everything from safety pins to tissues to Rescue Remedy.

Especially if you’re feeling a little nervous about being in front of the camera.

Now Time For Me To Step Out From Behind The Camera… Arghhh!

Right… this is the slightly terrifying bit for me.

Because, as I mentioned earlier, being in front of the camera is definitely not my comfort zone.

I’m much happier behind it!

But I think it’s important you get to see the human behind the lens, because on your wedding day, we’ll spend quite a bit of time together.

Being camera-shy myself means I completely understand how vulnerable it can feel to be photographed. And that understanding is something I bring to every wedding I photograph.

I’ll never make you feel awkward, rushed or self-conscious. Instead, I’ll gently guide you when needed and otherwise let you simply enjoy your day.

The more relaxed you feel, the more natural your photos will be — and that’s always my goal.
