Two Woods estate was one Sussex wedding venue I had really wanted to photograph a wedding at, so when I got a call from the fabulous Ali I was overjoyed. For me, Two Woods Estate is the ultimate outdoor woodland wedding venue, set in the heart of a breathtaking sustainable Redwood grove, on a 42-acre estate it is a truly magical place! Near Pulborough in West Sussex, the towering, enchanting Redwood trees offer a truly magical setting for an outdoor ceremony.
The magic of Two Woods Estate.
When I arrived I met Rob one of the owners of Two woods Estate, who told me the story of how after his own wedding, he and his Best Man Woody had, after a couple of drinks (when all great plans are made!) Hatched a plan to own and run a woodland wedding venue surrounded by nature. I love their strong eco philosophy of conservation and sustainability managing the estate is echoed throughout, from the upcycled furniture to the use of local and organic drinks in the bar. What an amazing place to get married! Ali and Ivan’s small and intermit wedding with close friends and family, with their love of nature and the great outdoors Two woods estate was their perfect wedding venue.

Ali walked down the aisle beside her Mum, in her lace and ombré dyed blue dress and flower crowns to a nervously awaiting Ivan. The aisle at Two Woods Estate is so breathtaking, the trees create a cathedral-like effect but I will say it is not for the faint-hearted, it is a long walk for any nervous bride!
After the ceremony Ivan’s Mum presented them with a loaf of bread sprinkled with salt, it is known as a Russian bread ceremony and is a traditional way of welcoming Ali to their family.

After the ceremony and drinks, we made our way to the meadow at Two Woods Estate, where the awesome caterers, Mad Platters had prepared the most incredible afternoon tea for everyone. I can say from first-hand experience their food was amazing and you could not meet a nicer team!

Later we wandered back to the woodland for some couples shots and as we mooched through the Redwoods and to the stone circle and with the sun streaming through the branches you could really feel the magic of Two Woods Estate, the birds were singing and I felt totally enveloped by nature.

Later in the afternoon, there were garden games and relaxing and instead of cutting a cake, Ali and Ivan want to cut wood for the fire pit later. With a specially prepared axe, there was a fair amount of hilarity I have to say not much wood got chopped!! The day ended with a fire pit and marshmallows and the most incredible sunset. It was truly one of my favourite 2022 weddings. Ali and Ivan were so much fun and the nicest people you could meet and I can say, hand on heart, Two woods Estate is the most magical and enchanting woodland wedding venue I have ever had the pleasure to work at!
“Danni is an all-around incredible human and absolutely fantastic wedding photographer. From the first moment we chatted with her we knew she was exactly who we wanted to photograph on our wedding day. My husband and I are two awkward humans who generally dislike having our photos taken, so we hoped to find someone who could take natural photos of us so we wouldn’t have to pose awkwardly throughout the day. She made us feel extremely comfortable and she really took the time to get to know us in a very genuine way.
With Danni, we got much more than we could have hoped for. Danni has a way of capturing ‘moments’ incredibly adeptly; she becomes so attuned to your day that she picks up on the micro-expressions and body language to create photos that are both technically beautiful and full of emotion. But she does it all seamlessly, moving around to capture the best light and angles without you knowing she’s there, which was particularly great for me during the ceremony when I was feeling nervous about being in the limelight.
Throughout the day Danni felt like a guest and a friend to all of us there. We had a small wedding and I was worried that a photographer would be conspicuous and there wouldn’t be enough to photograph. But during the slower parts of our day, Danni was SO MUCH FUN. She joined in but also managed to take the BEST action photos at the same time.
I’m so, so glad I put my trust in Danni because the results were incredible. I generally cringe when I see myself pose in photos, but another part of Danni’s magic is being able to direct you in such a casual and conversational way so that you barely even realise it’s happening until you receive the photos and get your mind blown that she had a vision all along.
Words don’t do her justice but I’ll end with this: whether you have a very clear and specific idea of what you want, or whether you aren’t quite sure where to start, you will be in safe hands with Danni. If you’re looking to be centre stage, or feel a bit nervous and awkward, she’ll know what to do. If you want to capture the fun and candid moments, but also want those beautiful, emotional moments immortalised, there’s really no one who can do it better.”
