Small intimate Sussex lockdown wedding

Small, intimate Sussex Covid weddings.

The latest update on weddings, following the Prime Minister’s announcements yesterday, is that the plans for relaxing guidelines on wedding receptions across England has been delayed until the 15th August. This is devastating news for so many couples!! As a wedding photographer I see first hand the worry and stress this is causing couples all over the country. In light of that I wanted to share with you this amazing small and intimate Sussex lockdown wedding that I shot on the 11th July this year.  To share with you that even if all your plans for your big day are being postpone how amazing just having your ceremony, with all the restrictions, can still be truly  MAGICAL.

We have and are all struggling in this new covid world we find ourselves in. I don’t know anyone personally or professionally that is not finding it hard.  BUT having now photographed 3 lockdown weddings, they have been for me, a celebration of everything we have all come to cherish in this crazy world. The importance of love, our closest family and friends and how essential these things are to all of us!

Laura and Toms intimate church wedding.

Laura and Tom have had to postpone their 2020 big summer wedding, as so many other couples have had to do in this crazy time. They had planned to get married on July 11th at their local church with a reception at the STUNNING Balcombe Place.

Planning a small and intimate lock down wedding.

When the easing of restrictions on weddings was announced, they were determined to try and arrange a small and intimate wedding ceremony to go ahead as planned on their original wedding date of the 11th July. I was so excited when I heard from Laura they had got their marriage license granted the week before their wedding!!!  Laura and Tom are still very excited for their big day next year but they just wanted to be married!!!

The wedding day in sunny Sussex!

Laura got ready at home in a small village nestled into Ashdown Forest not far from me. Gavin from  Gavin Harvie Hair  created the perfect bridal hair to compliment Laura’s breathe taking, silk,  Sassi Halford bridal gown. Accompanied with a stunning bridal bouquet and buttonholes from the super talented Emma at Tigers to Lilies.  The ceremony was held at their local church in Danehill. This small but beautiful ceremony was so perfect. It encompassed the pure joy and love that this very special wedding was all about!! Surrounded by their closest family and friends, Laura and Tom said I DO!!

With a handful of socially distanced group shots we drove over to one of my favourite spots on the forest called Friends Clump. A small group of tree perched on top of a hill set in the heart of the forest. The views from here stretch on for miles around. There are even sheep and cattle grazing here, sadly not on this day! From the clump you can also see the beautiful Ashdown Park Hotel, a spectacular country house hotel, where Laura and Tom where heading off to spend their wedding night.

If you are looking for joy in these sometimes dark days of postponing your big wedding day. Maybe having your ceremony this year and celebrating your love in 2020, while still having your BIG day next year to look forward to, could be exactly what you need?
