Charlotte and Philip’s Sussex garden wedding in Ditching was everything I love about weddings! With its outdoor ceremony and afternoon tea, it was a fun and vibrant country wedding full of personality. You could not meet a more lovely couple, who had worked so hard on making their day personal to them and great fun for their guests.
The wedding morning.
Charlotte and her bridesmaids all got ready in the main house overlooking the bustling garden and its final preparations. With everything in one place, I spent my morning whizzing between Charlotte and Phillip and the final preparation in the garden, capturing lots of wonderful moments. The morning was full of fun and giggles with the odd tear, especially when Charlotte revealed her amazing dress and oh WHAT a dress, an Enzoani design with the train of all trains.

The outdoor wedding ceremony.
Charlotte and Philip live in the beautiful Sussex village of Ditchling, nestled into the foot of the South Downs near Brighton. An idyllic spot for a Sussex garden wedding! The great British weather did however have plans of its own and kept threatening rain and storm clouds but undeterred and a brolly at hand Charlotte walk down the aisle with her very proud Dad beside her. Their ceremony was led by a family friend who made the wedding even more personal and perfect. One of my favourite shots of the day was as they walk back up the aisle, a moment of pure joy and love!
A Sussex garden wedding reception and afternoon tea.
The garden was laid with hay bales and garden seating and as the afternoon unfolded the sun came out to join us. While the guests enjoyed drinks, canapés the couple mingled and enjoyed catching up with everyone. I wandered, taking candid photos and capturing the fun of the day. As the afternoon continued the wedding breakfast was held in a fabulous stretch tent with the MOST delicious afternoon tea from the lovely ‘Jam and Tea’.
Evening fun on the South Downs.
The weather only improved, which meant after the meal we jumped into my car and drove a few minutes up to the top of Ditchling Beacon, where the views across the Sussex countryside are to die for! Having couples shots after dinner and before the evening reception gives you both a chance to spend some time together at a point in the day when there is no rush. Your guest won’t miss you and it’s a time to stretch your legs and grab some fresh air and if you are lucky some perfect evening light! After a cloudy start to the day, we had the most amazing summer evening sun and a moment to capture the sheer joy and love between these two wonderful people!
The evening party.
As the sun began to set and the fire pits where lit, the evening kicked off with the couples first dance accompanied by the awesome saxophonist Tyler Rix who is insanely talented and got everyone on the dance floor! It was the perfect end to the perfect Sussex garden wedding, with festoon lights and fires ablaze and music spilling out into the garden.
